Honestly, I have not been too impressed so far, but I am definitely looking forward to the black girl that we saw in the preview on Tuesday night.

First, we are asked why Denver is called the Mile High City. Well, the reason is because it’s 1 mile above the sea level. First, we see a 16 year old boy called Marlows Davis Jr. He certainly does not lack confidence. He thinks he is better than Usher and Michael Jackson. Unfortunately, he cannot be more wrong. He started off “Fallen” horrendously off-key and also kept on fingering his ears. It was just weird. He could not believe the judges did not like it. I felt bad for him, because he seems like such a nice kid. Unfortunately, he is just too delusional.

Next, we see Tiffany Christensen singing a song I never heard of. I don’t think I want to hear that song ever again. The following few people are no better.

Then finally, we see the black girl I have been waiting for since Tuesday night. She is Lisa Tucker. She is a 16 year old from Anaheim, California. She came in, and chose to sing “One Moment in time”. I must say that she caused shivers in my body. It was that good. I simply could not believe that a 16-year old can have that mature of a voice. Simon simply said that she is the best 16-year old to ever enter American Idol. That is a huge compliment. She is obviously through.

After we are back from the break, people are complaining that Simon took too many breaks. People kept themselves interested by doing different activities outside. Amanda Berg came in, and decided to sing “Can’t fight the moonlight” from Coyote Ugly. She said she wanted to be Whitney Houston, but she sang like Whitney Houston reading the phone book.

Next, we see Ace Young coming up. He is one of the most talked about singers on idol forums due to his looks and “past fame”. He sings “all over again” by Westlife. He definitely has an extremely smooth voice. I don’t think he has the best range, but he has great control over his voice. Randy and Paula both like him very much, but Simon is less enthusiastic. However, he does go through with three yeses.

Next, we see a Kansas girl called Rochelle that has a really compelling story. Apparently, she was about to be evicted from her home, so she really is desperate for American Idol. She sings “chain of fools”. I must say that she is really good. I don’t think she has the best voice, but she really performed well. She also has a really lively and engaging personality. Both Randy and Simon thought she was amazing, so she is through to the next round.

After the break, we see a group of rockers coming in. They are inspired by Bo and Constantine, I guess. We see a lot of pretend rockers auditioning, but they are mostly atrocious. A female rocker called Naomi Guse came in, and sang a song I never heard of. It was horrendous. Jacob Garcia came in and tried to perform with his support sticks, but didn’t do well at all. Finally, we see a male rocker called Christ Daughtry coming in. There was a little introduction piece on him. He seemed to be a really nice family guy. He decides to sing “the letter”. I must say that he sounded very good. In fact, it was better than all the versions of “the letter” I heard last year in Hollywood. He definitely has a great voice, and a lot of energy. The judges said that he did not emote, but I didn’t find that. After much deliberation, we saw Chris coming out with the golden ticket.

After we are back from the break, we saw some highlights of other auditions. A girl called Heather Cox sang “you raise me up” quite well, and was put through. Angela Garcia sang “Rush, Rush” really badly, but Simon just had to make fun of Paula. Simon said “very rarely do I hear something better than the original. That was exceptional”. Erik Mena tried to sing “the way you look tonight”, but he sang the notes disjointed. You can virtually feel the one second pause between each notes. Next, we see some cowboys. The cowboy to sing is Garet Johnson. When he came in, he was so nervous that he could not even say the name of the song he is singing. He starts singing “can you feel the love tonight” by Elton John. You can see that he is extremely nervous, but his voice is actually quite decent. Both Randy and Simon said that he could get better with some singing lessons, but Garet is not sure if he can afford to. Even so, Randy and Simon still put him through. I do have to say that he is one of the most likeable “kid” on American Idol. The world is definitely a little big for him.

19 people are through on the first day. We are off to the breaks.

After the break, we hit the second day of auditions. We see a dude (calls himself “Flawless” dressed up in pajamas. Apparently, he has his own styles, but I can’t understand a single thing he is saying. He said he is an entrepreneur. I don’t know about that, but could make a lot of money teaching “the broken English” class. Then, we see a guy that claims to be too smart for the world. Flawless is in first, and sings “Your Song”. He starts off on a horrible note. He stops himself. When he starts off again, he did not get much better. Simon simply said that he is the worst in Denver. It’s hard to disagree. Ben Hausbach, the other guy, is up next. He sings a weird song really horribly. Honestly, I don’t think these two guys hit one good note. He is obviously rejected.

After the break, we see April Walsh coming in. She sings “It’s so quiet” and really performed it. She showed a lot of personality, and didn’t sing that badly either. Randy and Paula put her through. Next, we see a guy called Zachary. He looks and talks like a girl. Zach actually sang a male voice. I was so amazed. It wasn’t bad, but the voice just didn’t match with the body. He is obviously rejected. He comes out, and lets out a lot of anger.

18 people are through on the second day. Next week, we will be off to Greensborough, North Carolina. I’m really excited when I saw that blond girl from the commercial that sang “A Broken Wing” really well.

A review of the first episode

For more reviews, visit sirlinksalot
Here we are again: a new season of American Idol. So, what does the first night have in store? Well, we start off in Chicago.

Derrick Dupre is up first and he is just terrible. He sang in a really weird voice or 3 different voices. I’m not sure which. He certainly is confident, that’s for sure. He asked the judge to give him one hour, and come back to sing again.

Katrina Yaukey is up next. She sings (or I mean raps) something. And then the judges asked her to sing something, but she has no idea what to sing.

Justin Sticht is up next. He claims to have a great range. He attempts two different songs. Unfortunately, he was just not up to par in both songs.

All I want right now is one person that can sing. I don’t feel entertained at all.

Many people have been rejected. That includes one dude who dressed up a little girl to the audition. After the break, the Brittenum twins (Daryl and Terrell) are up. They said they were singing something original and they sang really well. Terrell then sing “My girl” and sounds fantastic. Daryl then sings “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg”. And they are both through. I must say that they impressed me.

A dental assistance comes in for audition. She says she thinks Simon is out. She is also in a band called “Catfight”. Well, she certainly looks the part. She is called Gina Glocksen, and sings “Power of love”. She sucks up to Simon, but she really is good and is through. I think she is probably the best of the night.

We see a group of bad people after this. (Including a girl called Noriega who keeps on forgetting lyrics.)

After this, we see a big girl coming in. Mandisa Hundley decides to sing “Fallin”. She sings it really slow, but with a lot of control and power. She is through, but Simon had to comment on her weight.

Kevin Brenneman is up next. He sings this really weird song, and is definitely a reject. Simon says that Kevin reminds him of a wasp, because Kevin has a cartoon voice. Paula said Kevin would make a nice rugrat.

Charles Berry is up next. Apparently, he was at two different auditions last year. He sings a really weird song that he wrote. Simon suggested that he should be a woman.

Amanda Rabideau is up next. She seems is a really energetic girl. She didn’t start out too badly, but she let out a really screechy note. It just went downhill after that. She got rejected. Simon is really getting rude and annoying. I personally think he is way out of line now.

Next, a deputy sheriff called Brandon is up. He kept on singing “I shot the sheriff, but I didn’t shoot the deputy”. He sang nothing else. It was just too much. I couldn’t stop laughing.

Derrick Dupre went outside to try to get some feedback.

Kristin Davis, dressed in wedding robe, came in. Apparently, she wore it to her prom. She sings “my heart will go on”. I thought she was little shaky. Simon told her that she is bland, boring and wore a horrible dress. I felt bad for her, because she got rejected really harshly.

Derrick finally sang to someone. They were laughing not in a good way.

Blake is next dressed up like statue of liberty. He was wearing a gimmicky dress, so he got kicked out after four notes.

Derrick is back in the audition room. He was as bad as he was before. On top of that, the lyric of his song is just downright hilarious. I can’t help but laugh. He got a no obviously.

Eric Lohan is up next. He came with his mother and grandmother. He talks like a girl and sings “if I’m not made for you”. This is a great song, but he was really terribly shaky. It was obviously not good enough to go through. Then, they made a big deal about the grandmother wanting to hurt Simon.

We hit the break again. All I ask for is one really good person, please deliver, Chicago!!

After the break, the Barrettsmith sisters (Leah and Brooke) are auditioning. They both sang individually. They were decent, but nothing mind blowing. The judges have a little disagreement about who to send through. After all, they both got sent through.

A girl is up next singing a song by Alicia Keys. I must say that she was horrible in everyway. I couldn’t believe how bad she was. She sounded like a cat. It was just weird. It was really hard to put her voice on a girl looking that good.

Zachary Smith is up next singing “I’m in a mood for love”. He has a nice and sweet voice. You can clearly see that Paula loves this kid. He definitely isn’t the best singer, but his personality really seems to carry him. Simon was a little iffy, but the other two judges voted him through.

Jessica Nelson is up next. She has your typical horrible voice. You can see clearly she was going to be rejected. After that, she went crazy outside and threw a tantrum. Then, you see other girls that are just throwing tantrums outside. 19 people went through on the first day.

Now, we are up to the second day.

David Radford is up first. He came with his mother. They spend a lot of time on his intro. He says that he likes Frank Sinatra type of music. He sings “the summer wind” by Frank Sinatra. This really is not my type of music, but I thought he was really good. Paula was worried that he is too one-dimensional. Due to Simon’s insistence, Paula and Randy finally said yes to him.

Krystal, a Paris Hilton look-alike, is up next. She even talks like Paris Hilton. She has a huge tan, so Simon says he wants to know about it. I’m thinking to myself “there is no way she is 16”. She sings “And I’m telling you”. The judges couldn't understand why her mother let her look that way, so they asked the mom to come in. Once they saw that her mother dresses really trashy, they got a hint. Obviously, she got rejected. I think her fate was sealed as soon as the judges saw her.

After we are back from the break, they started to show auditioners with funny hat. Stuart Benuyen is up first and wears the most decorative costume + hat. He sings a song in Syrian. It was unique, but he didn’t get put through. After him, a Ukrainian called Yuliya is up next. She said she needs to get through or else her visa will expire. She sings “Bohemian Rhapsody”. She sings in a bee-like voice. That explains everything. All I heard was “wommmm, wooommm” coming out her mouth. The judges said she had sexy gesture, but her voice was just not good enough. I guess Yuliya is going back to Ukraine.

Next, Joshua and Jaret Simmons (our second set of twins) are here to audition. They sang “Superstar” by Luthor Vandross. They both have really good voices. They decided to serenade Paula with this song. Simon expressed a little reservation, but Paula and Randy put them through.

Finally, Dave Hoover came into the auditioning room. Apparently, he speaks to animals in English. He was really into his song. He expressed interesting body and eye expressions. He sang horribly though. Out of amusement, Randy and Paula put him through. This is outrageous.

We are back from the break. A total of 34 contestants went through from Chicago. Apparently, this year’s most abused song is Lady Marmelade. We heard a lot of bad renditions as you can imagine. Then, we see a preview of tomorrow night’s episode.

Beginning of AI

So, another season is here and we are probably all excited to discover the next William Hung and the Kelly Clarkson. That's right, I'm more interested in laughing at the really bad people right now.
